Mount Princeton Hot Springs

Mon 24 February 2025

Mount Princeton Hot Springs near Buena Vista Colorado. We went from Feb 22nd to the 24th. This Saturday to Monday trip allowed a cheaper Sunday night stay and a much less crowded experience on Sunday night and Monday soak.

The infinity pool is only open on weekends, so we could still use it all day Sunday. Probably the best hot springs/mountain view available.

The 'motel' accomodatation (the cheapest offered) were a pretty dated, 60s looking motel setup. Not exactly what I would expect at a "Spa" hotel/hot springs. A bedroom, with just beds. No side table, no chairs in the room, actually no hooks in the room for coats, towells, swimsuits etc. The room did have a fridge, microwave and coffee maker, so it was all bad.

The 'adults' or quiet side pools were good. Good views, overall, the water temps are a bit lower than most springs we've visited. Pools were about 4-5 degrees less than posted temps. Not sure if that was seasonal or occurs often in the winter months and the advertised temps reflect summertime temps. The riverside/old historic bathhouse was quaint. Soaking in the actual river (with hot spring runoff heating the rock pools looked pretty fun, but somewhat difficult to get down and up).

The restaurant at the hotel was good. I had a steak and Grace had a beet salad that was what a real beet salad should be (beets and more beets; not a few beet chunks topping a green salad). Dessert was an apple cheesecake. Good, but not sure apple and cheesecake combined well.

The second night, we decided to head over to BV and try out Eddyline Brewery for beers, food and a false hope that the bar could get the Avs games on the TV. I ended up watching the Avs on my phone via http://onhockey.tv Dinner was chips, salad and a pizza. Beers were pretty good, a wheat beer and a dark beer on Nitro.
