Egypt G-Adventures Tour first part

April 11th

Early in the morning, drive to the famed temples of Abu Simbel for a guided tour. Later board our river cruise ship for the night.

Temple of Abu Simbel Visit: Part historic monument and part modern marvel, Abu Simbel is one of Egypt's grandest temples. Built during the rule of Ramses the II this structure was almost swallowed by the Nile, but now stands safe and sound thnks to crafty archaeologists and UNESCO. Travel through Egypt's rugged landscapes and the towering figures of Ramses himself, Ra-Horakhty, Amun, and Ptah will all welcome us.

Tonight we board our river cruise ship to start our 3-night Nile cruise

April 12th (Day 4)

Aswan/Kom Ombo. Spent the day floating down the Nile on the river boat with guided tour of Kom Ombo Temple. Relaxed on deck was the passing desert sands and scenary.

Following breakfast, the boat set sail. Excursion to Temple of Kom Ombo, a temple dedicated to Sobek the crocodile god. It still contains a mummified crocodile.

April 13th (Day 5)

Kom Ombo/Luxor. Continuing on the river cruise. This evening we will moor just outside Luxor

April 14th

Luxor

Today your journey takes you to the West Bank to enjoy a guided visit to the Temple of Hatshepsu. Later, we will meet a student guide at the Funtasia Project Center where will we bike through the village to visit the community. We then return to the center to learn about Planeterra over tea with the guide.

Then, visit the Valley of the Kings and the Colossi of Memnon before having lunch with a local family. On the way to the hotel, stop at an Alabaster factory.

We also paid to visit King Tut's Tomb. All the treasures and artificats are in the museums, but the mummy remains and great wall decor with lots of color.

April 15th (Day 7)

Luxor

Karank Temple Complex Visit: once the centre of all religious life in ancient Egypt. Built and extended by successive generations of rules, admire the amazing architecture, massive columns and painted hieroglyphs.

Luxor Temple Complex Visit: an architecutral splendour located near the Nile and right in the center of downtown Luxor. Evidence of ancient worship, Coptic Christianity and Islamic architecture throughout the temple.

Hotel: Steigenberger Resort, Lunch and Dinner on our own

April 16th

Luxor/Alexandria Catch a flight back to Cairo in the morning. Stop for a tour inside the monasteries of Wadi Natrun on the way to Alexandria.

Monasteries of Wadi El Natrun Unfortunately, due to Easter week the Monasteries declined to allow visitors. Our tour companies (G and Cosmos) were not informed, so we drove up through the Natrun valley and then had to leave, site unseen :(

Hotel: Metropole Hotel. With good view of the harbor, Qaitbay Fortress is where the Lighthouse of Alexandria once stood.
